JJ Strahle (President)

Kandace Kaylor (Vice President)

Kandace is the type of neighbor that readily gets involved in neighborhood activities and causes. She is the driving force behind Nopa Networking, a group of neighbors that share neighborhood news and get together periodically to socialize. These Networking events have been a tremendous success. Additionally, Kandace works with other volunteers and board members to coordinate Nopna sponsored events like the annual Block Party. She has lived in the neighborhood with her husband David and two dogs, Millie & Vegas, since 2003. She has been a Board Member since 2009. Kandace works in the Mutual Fund industry and spends free time enjoying all the amenities our neighborhood has to offer.

Angela Alvarado (Treasurer)

Angela and her husband Frank have lived in the neighborhood since 2007 and find the area fun and eclectic. Angela is a CPA and partner at Deloitte and offers her financial skills to the NOPNA board as its treasurer. She and her husband love the diversity of the neighborhood, its proximity to the park and are often found grabbing a bite to eat at the local establishments, hanging out at the farmers’ market or riding around on their bikes in the park.

Kevin Rafter (Recording Secretary)

Kevin has lived and worked in the Panhandle for several years now, and has resided in San Francisco since 1996. When he’s not taking care of his two young children or calling the DPW street cleaning team, Kevin studies issues related to the California nonprofit sector at the University of San Francisco. He is excited about all the new development and local businesses coming into the neighborhood; he sees them as a sign that others recognize what a great neighborhood we have. Kevin looks forward to working with the NOPNA board to find creative ways to increase the membership and get more people involved in the community.

Leela Gill (Member-at-Large)

Leela has lived in the NOPNA area since 1990. She is a block captain and part of the NOPNA parent’s group as well as a past NOPNA President. Leela and her husband, Charles, appreciate the new great little cafes and bars popping up within walking distance of most NOPNA residents. They have two boys and enjoy visiting neighbors and riding bikes to local playgrounds and Golden Gate Park. Most recently, Leela was appointed to serve on the Citizen’s Advisory Committee for the Mayor’s Department of Children, Youth and Their Families. Dan Nguyen-Tan (Member-at-Large)

Dan is the new membership coordinator for NOPNA. Dan can frequently be seen riding his bike through the Panhandle and drooling over desserts at Delessio. Dan co-founded Golden Capital Network, formerly served as acting VP of Finance for Teach For America, taught at Chico State, and served as Board President of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butte County. Dan formerly served on the Chico City Council from 2000-2004 and served as the City’s Finance Chair.
